Revoltech: VF-1S "Skull Leader" Review-

Macross was one of my favorite animated TV shows. Okay so the Valkyries are such cool machines. Things got better in 1986 when the Macross movie 'Do You Rememer Love?" was released. The Valks had more detail on them. For both the show and the Movie, the Vakyries were the main defense force of the SDF-1. The most prominent one in both the show and the DYRL movie, is the VF-1S. Noticible from a distance by its skull and cross bone insignia on the tail. Skull Leader or Skull 1, as it is named sometimes in the show.

Package-

Box front. The usual window style package. Displaying the figure in the center and on either side are the extras and accessuries. That come with it. On the lower left corner is the Revoltech logo.

Box Back. Showing briefly the features. What it can do. Nicely done.
A closer look at whats inside.
The Breakdown- Lets dive right in. Upon opening the lid of the plastic tray insert, I removed the figure very carefully. Taking a close look at it in every angle. The detail on the figure is really good. The figure stands about 4 to 5 inches tall. Despite its small size, each detail from the original VF-1S in the movie has been replicated as much as possible. Right now i have the figure our with out its armor. I rememeber the Skull team color scheme. To every detail, that has been replicated on this revoltech figure,

One of the accessories I decided to show was the standard issue Gattling gun pod Whic every Vf-1 Valkyrie uses. As part of its design. the gund pod itself id molded to scale of the figure. Being the right length in proportion to the figure.

Super/Strike armor- The next thing I removed from the plastic tray insert was the Super/Strike armor parts. Itook a closer look at each piece. The detail is just impressive. The armor and booters are designed to be removable. Kaiyod did thier best to make this part to scale with the figure, so I have no complaints. I put the rtmor on and the Vf-1 looks really good. The strike cannon and one of the boosters are separate pieces. i had to put those two pieces
together andthen istall it on the back of the VF-1S with the other booster.

Poseability- The one thing i find important in an action figure. is how much joint movement it has. Supeposeable figures are nothing new. A company in the U.S., called Toynami got the liscenses for Robotech and Macross products. Toynami's Robotech superposeable figire line
became popular among collectors. I'm thinking the same thing with the Revoltech Macross figures. The idea of the Revoltech joints is for the figure to asume any pose that comes to mind. The revolver joint in certain parts of the body Allows the body in an extreme way. Shown below are some examples of what the figure can do-

Crouching. Shown in the two pictures below. I thiught that was pretty neat.

Shown here to the left. One feature of the VF-1S is that the wings can open. The strike cannon does pivot over the shoulder. The figure came with missile boxes which can be put on each wing. The blasters on the head move also. So there are quite a few things this figure can do for its size.
Conclusion- its a nicely made figure. I like it. i had loads of fiun playing with it. For any macross fan or collector out there I would recommend this figure. I'm thinking of getting a few more of the VF-1 Revoltech figures. Being the right prices its not a problem. In the near future, I'm thinking of getting a second VF-1S and customizing it a bit. And detail it.
